Bharti Airtel has introduced 4G services on mobile phones, namely the iPhone 5S and the Xolo LT900 devices. Until now, customers could access 4G services in the country only on desktops and laptops through data cards.
For accessing 4G services on their mobile phones, customers will have to purchase Bharti Airtel?s 4G-enabled SIM cards. The company plans to launch various tariff plans to encourage users to access 4G services through their mobile phones. Besides accessing high speed internet services, customers will also be able to make voice calls through Bharti Airtel?s network based on long term evolution technology. While data browsing will be on operator?s 4G network, voice calls will be routed through its 2G and 3G network.
Bharti Airtel will launch 4G service on smartphones in phases. Initially, the operator will introduce the service in Bangalore followed by Kolkata, Pune and Chandigarh.
