Bharti Airtel has surrendered 2.5 MHz of wireless CDMA spectrum, allocated to it in Madhya Pradesh, to DoT. The government had asked several companies to vacate their unused radio frequency.

Bharti no longer needs the spectrum because it has switched to a unified licensing regime based on GSM technology. The move will benefit CDMA operators such as RCL and Tata Teleservices Limited (TTSL).
