Bharti Airtel reports revenue of Rs 202.64 billion for the first quarter of 2014.

The company has registered revenue of Rs 202.64 billion for the quarter under review witnessing a growth of 9.2 per cent as compared to the corresponding quarter in 2013. The service providers? profit declined by 9.6 per cent from 7.66 billion in the first quarter of 2013 to Rs 6.86 billion in the first quarter of 2014.

The revenue growth for the company was driven by a 10.9 per cent increase in its mobile business in India, a 34 per cent growth in the digital TV business, a 17.9 per cent growth in its enterprise business and a 37.1 per cent increase in its income from the South Asia region.

Driven by 2G and 3G services, Bharti Airtel?s mobile data revenue witnessed a growth of 91.5 per cent in India and 65.8 per cent in Africa. During the quarter under review, the operator focused on promoting its plan of making a video available to users for Rs 1.

In the first quarter of 2014, the operator?s average revenue per users increased by Rs 16 and stood at Rs 200. Further, the company?s income from Africa and South Asia increased to 4.6 per cent.

Bharti Airtel has also approved the sale/transfer of its data centre undertaking (business) by way of slump sale to its newly incorporated wholly owned subsidiary Nxtra Data Limited.

Commenting on the performance of the company, Sunil Bharti Mittal, chairman, Bharti Airtel Limited, said, ?Results for Airtel India reflect rationality returning to the sector which needs to be complemented by a more enabling regulatory environment for a deeper penetration of telecom and broadband services.?
