Bharti Airtel has launched a Far-East Connect Cable Network, a 20,000 route km cable system that will provide seamless connectivity to all operators on the Asia-America Gateway. Airtel is one of the leading consortium partners in the new cable system and has invested over $500 million in the past two years. Far-East Connect comprises Airtel’s network assets on multiple cable routes such as i2i, SMW4, APCN2, JUCN and AAG in addition to a proposed investment in another high speed network between Singapore and Japan.
