Bharti Airtel has entered into exclusive talks with Kuwaiti telecom group Zain for acquiring the latter’s African operations.

The exclusivity period ends on March 25, 2010. Zain has reportedly agreed to offload its African assets to Bharti Airtel in a deal valued at $10.7 billion.This potential transaction does not include Zain’s operations in Morocco and Sudan. Meanwhile, Bharti Airtel has stated that the completion of the deal was subject to due diligence, customary regulatory approvals and the findings of the final transaction documentation.
