Bharti Airtel has entered into an alliance with 23 global communi-cation providers to form a wholesale applications community. The move is an attempt to build a global ecosystem of developers by establishing a common platform where they can market their latest innovations to a wider customer base. Leading device manufacturers such as LG Electronics, Samsung and Sony Ericsson have extended their support to this initiative. Other members of the alliance include AT&T, China Mobile, Deutsche Telekom, SingTel, NTT DOCOMO, Orange, Telefónica, the Telenor Group, Sprint, Verizon Wireless and Vodafone.
