Bharti Airtel has decided to disengage from ongoing talks with South Africa’s MTN for a possible merger. According to a statement issued by the Bharti Group, the decision to pull out of the talks was prompted by its consideration that the new structure proposed by MTN’s board would not have been in the interest of Bharti Airtel’s minority shareholders or of its plans for expansion as an Indian telecom multinational.
