Bharti Airtel has signed a two-year extension to its existing managed services contract with Sweden-based vendor Ericsson. The two companies had signed the original contract in 2011. Under the new agreement, Ericsson will manage the telecom operator?s 2G, 3G and 4G networks along with its Wi-Fi networks in 15 circles across the country.
Further, Ericsson will provide its managed services through a state-of-the-art global network operation centre, as well as its field services through a distributed network of service centres. Recently, Ericsson was awarded a 4G- long term evolution deal from Airtel for the rollout of 4G network based on frequency division duplex technology.
