
The Rwanda Utilities Regulatory Agency has granted Bharti airtel the requisite licences to offer 2G and 3G mobile services in Rwanda, thereby expanding its global footprint to 20 countries in Africa. According to a statement issued by the operator, Bharti plans to invest $100 million over three years in the African country.
In the statement, Sunil Bharti Mittal, CMD, Bharti airtel said that the operator would offer the best yet affordable mobile services and innovative products, and will expand wireless broadband network to all major towns of the country.
“Rwanda is a key telecom market with immense growth potential and will strengthen Bharti airtel’s footprint in East Africa,” he said.
