Bharti Airtel has entered into an agreement to sell 1,100 telecom towers to the mobile infrastructure company, IHS Holding Limited in Rwanda and Zambia. As part of the agreement, Bharti Airtel will lease back these towers for 10 years. Bharti Airtel is of the view that the deal is in line with its objective to reduce the ongoing capital expenditure on passive infrastructure in Africa.

Earlier, Bharti Airtel had sold 4,800 telecom towers in Nigeria to American Tower Corporation. It had also divested around 3,500 telecom towers to Eaton Towers in Africa. Further, in July 2014, Bharti Airtel had signed an agreement with Helios Towers Africa, a firm owned by a consortium of investors, to sell towers across four countries in Africa.
