Bharti Airtel has entered into a partnership with BGFIBank, an African financial services institution, to provide mobile money services through Airtel Money to the bank?s customers in four African countries. The affiliation will allow the customers of BGFIBank to access Airtel Money in Gabon, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo and Madagascar.

According to the agreement, the Airtel Money customers who also have BGFIBank accounts will be able to transfer money between the two accounts, check account balance, carry out transactions, order cheque books and ATM cards, and access bank statements. It will also enable cash withdrawal without ATM cards at the bank?s ATMs and buying e-value by customers to support businesses. Further, new products like mobile savings account, mobile loans and international money transfer services will be launched under the partnership between the companies.

BGFIBank, currently operating in ten African countries, have been focusing on mobile phones as the centre of their multi-channel strategy.
