
Bharti Airtel has awarded a 4G network contract to Finland-based networking and telecommunications equipment company Nokia Networks. As per the contract, Nokia Networks will be responsible for the deployment of Airtel?s 4G network on the 1800 MHz band in the Andhra Pradesh, North East, Punjab, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, and Karnataka circles. This is in line with the operator?s plan to roll out its 4G network in these circles by December 2015 followed by the Karnataka circle by February 2016 and Rajasthan circle by April 2016.
Recently, the company had inked a $200 million agreement with Nokia Networks for building the telecom operator?s 4G network in the 1800 MHz band in the service areas of Mumbai, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Odisha, Punjab and Kerala.
