Bharti Airtel has been awarded 3G and 4G licences by the government of Chad, a central African country.
The licence would enable the operator, which already provides internet services across 17 African countries, to extend its 3G footprint to 16 countries.
Commenting on the development, Salia Gbane, managing director, Airtel Tchad, said, ?Airtel?s 3G network will enhance the social, cultural and commercial participation of the people and will bridge the digital divide with the regional and global community.?
