Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Essar have come under the scanner of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) for violating the norms pertaining to mobile number portability (MNP).

The regulator had issued showcause notices to these firms seeking information based on complaints from subscribers that their requests for MNP have been rejected.

It is believed that the operators have sent TRAI their responses, which are currently under scrutiny.

As part of its scrutiny of the issue, TRAI had sent a team of its officers to the telecom operators’ offices.
