Bharat Bill Payment System (BBPS) has on-boarded Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) as the first telecom operator for its mobile prepaid recharge services. The services are now live on BHIM UPI App. Moreover, NPCI BillPay Limited (NBBL) is in advanced stages of discussion with other telecom operators to on-board them on the BBPS platform, thereby granting customers wider options and channels for their mobile prepaid recharges.
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had approved mobile prepaid recharges as a biller category in BBPS, in June 2021.
The mobile prepaid recharge facility will allow telecom operators to easily update the mobile recharge plans and make them available to all their customers across millions of touchpoints, including apps/websites/physical channels enabled with Bharat BillPay.
