The Department of Telecommunications has appointed ­­­­A.K. Saxena and N.K. Joshi as in­terim directors for planning and operations respectively at Bharat Broadband Network Limited (BBNL). BBNL is the executing agency for the BharatNet project, which is aimed at providing fibre-based broadband connectivity to the 250,000 gram panchayats in the country. The appointments were an­nounced following the approval of the appointments committee of the cabinet. The two directors will hold their respective positions for three months.
