Bangaldesh-based telecom operator, Banglalink, has posted its financial results for the second quarter of 2013.
For the period under consideration, revenues from the company?s mobile data services business increased by 115 per cent. Also, its subscriber base increased by 6 per cent to 27.1 million, driven by high gross additions and lower churn rate.
Meanwhile, the telecom operator?s revenues and EBITDA declined by 14 per cent and 16 per cent, respectively. This was mainly attributed to lower usage per subscriber, which was adversely impacted by the application of regulatory directives pertaining to the deactivation of VoIP services.
Over 0.19 million customers availing of VoIP services were impacted by this directive in the period under consideration. This was in addition to the combined total of 1.06 million customers deactivated in the fourth quarter of 2012 and the first quarter of 2013.
