Bangladeshi mobile operator Grameenphone, which recently signed an infrastructure-sharing agreement with Banglalink, has signed a similar deal with the country’s third largest operator in subscriber terms, AKTEL, a subsidiary of Malaysia’s Axiata Group. The tie-up is aimed at improving the operators’ GSM network coverage in rural areas. The deal is expected to bring down Grameenphone’s operational costs whilst AKTEL users will getbetter coverage via the former’s nationwide infrastructure.
