Bahrain’s telecommunications provider Batelco has awarded a network upgradation and expansion contract to Ericsson. The contract is part of Batelco’s $38.5 million network expansion project, MNE 2010. The objective of the MNE 2010 project is to ensure a superior network performance for Batelco and its readiness for long term evolution. The new network will also be capable of handling much greater throughput of data in real time, which is required to support services such as mobile video streaming and conferencing, web-based applications and services, and the rapid transfer of large files.
