Amazon Web Services (AWS) is planning to invest $429.8 million in a data centre near Taloja, Navi Mumbai. The firm applied to the State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority earlier this month for environmental clearance for the project, which is planned on a 49-acre plot of land.
The company plans to construct six buildings on the site, four of which will have seven storeys and serve as data centres, while the remaining two will have two storeys and support the electrical and water requirements of the facilities. The data centres will have a combined capacity of 473 megawatt.
The plot near Taloja falls within the boundaries of Asode and Burdul villages. It was acquired by AWS in late 2024 from Macrotech Developers for Rs 4.50 billion ($48.35 million). The company also acquired 38.18 acres of land from Lodha in Palava near Navi Mumbai in December 2024.
