The Association of Unified Telecom Service Providers of India (AUSPI) is opposing the Department of Telecommunications? (DoT?s) proposal to impose a one-time spectrum fee on dual technology players.

DoT has suggested charging the existing dual technology players a one-time fee based on the price determined during the forthcoming 2G license auctions.

AUSPI says that DoT?s proposal favours GSM players and is legally untenable. It is of the view that the proposed one time fee would cause incalculable damage to the businesses and investments made by its members, over the last several years on the basis of the tenets of the licence agreements.
