According to the Indian Space Association (ISpA), the auction method for assigning spectrum for satellite-based services has not been a success globally and taking the same route in India will distort the utility of airwaves and widen the country’s digital divide.

ISpA stated that in case a competitive force in India takes the frequency and blocks it for foreign players then that foreign player will not be able to provide services in our country.

Further, as per ISpA, microwave or millimetre wave spectrum is not auctioned anywhere in the world citing that the US enacted the Orbit Act in 2000 to prohibit the auctioning of orbital resources along with the spectrum.
