Taiwan-based handset maker, Asus plans to start contract manufacturing in India soon. The company is looking at contract manufacturing of its smartphones in the country.

At present, Asus is exploring the option of partnering with Foxconn and other smartphone manufacturers to manufacture its handsets in the country. The company aims to manufacture 70 per cent of its total smartphones through contract manufacturing in India.

The smartphone vendor, which has 400 employees in India, is also looking at expanding its channel coverage. As of now, Asus has 120 exclusive stores in the country and plans to further expand its retail presence by launching more stores. It is also looking at establishing research and development centres in India.
