The government of Assam has approved 3,642 pending right-of-way (RoW) applications with immediate effect. As per the tower infrastructure providers, the move is an important step toward country’s vision of Digital India and smart cities.
With this move, Assam has become the fifth state after Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh to adopt deemed approval.
Of late, the government launched ‘Gati Shakti Sanchar Portal’ to speed up RoW application clearances, which otherwise used to take months to get approved. The centralised portal is expected to substantially subsidise the time to obtain RoW clearances by telcos.
