According to a research report released by Parks Associates, the Asia Pacific region will surpass North America as the leading market for 4G LTE by 2016.
Asia -Pacific will have more than 53 per cent of 4G/LTE subscribers by 2016 and South Korea and Japan will be the leading market for this technology.
Also, Parks Associates has estimated that global 4G/LTE subscribership will increase from 9 million in 2011 to over 560 million in 2016.
In 2016, 4G/LTE subscribers will account for 8.8 percent of worldwide mobile subscriptions. According to the research firm, as of June 2012, 83 carriers have launched LTE networks in 43 countries and 40 more carriers intend to deploy LTE by the year end.
The firm opines that data pricing schemes forms an important part of telecom operators? plan for monetisation of 4G/LTE services.
