Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Minister of Communications, Electronics and Information Technology and Railways, has launched India’s fastest and indigenously-designed internet protocol/multiprotocol label switching (IP/MPLS) router. The router has a capacity of 2.4 terabits per second (Tbps).

The router has been developed by the collaboration of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), the Centre for Development of Telematics (C-DOT) and Nivetti.

Speaking at the launch event in Bengaluru, Vaishnaw expressed immense pride in the development and launch of this secure core router. Highlighting its significance in the broader context of the Digital India initiative, he emphasised the pivotal role of networking infrastructure in realising the vision of a digitally empowered nation.

According to the minister, the installation of the router will be helpful in the growth of several sectors including railways communication network, power grid, telecommunications and television media.
