The Ministry of Communications and Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has named Ashok Kumar Jha as principal advisor at the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) headquarters (HQ) in New Delhi.
Additionally, Jha has been serving as chief general manager (CGM) at Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) Assam and will assume the new role on deputation. The appointment, cleared by the competent authority, is for an initial term of two years from the date he takes charge or until further orders, whichever is earlier.
Further, the DoT has issued an office memorandum instructing that Jha be relieved immediately to join TRAI HQ. His deputation will be governed by the Department of Personnel and Training guidelines, with any matters not covered in these office memoranda to be decided in accordance with TRAI policies.
The official communication, signed under Secretary to the government of India, was addressed to the chairman and managing director of BSNL.
