Aruna Sundararajan has been given full charge of the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) and has been appointed as telecom secretary. She was till recently holding additional charge of DoT while serving as secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). J.S. Deepak had, in March 2017, stepped down from the position of secretary, DoT, following which power secretary P.K. Pujari was given additional charge of the position. Later, in May 2017, Sundararajan took over from Pujari. Sundararajan is a 1982 batch officer of the Kerala cadre and has also served as administrator of the Universal Service Obligation Fund. Meanwhile, Ajay Prakash Sawhney has been appointed secretary of MeitY.
