The global majors, Apple and Samsung involved in patent-wars in as many as 10 countries have failed to come to a peaceful settlement with each other.

Bothe the companies are alleging each other of infringement ofpatented technology in smartphones or tablets.

As per the news report in Korea Times Tim Cook, chief executive officer, Apple and Choi Gee-Sung, president and chief executive officer, Samsung met for the court directed peace-talks to settle the legal issues between the two without going for a trial.However, their talks did not culminate into any agreement and the companies are now headed for a legal battle in the U.S. District Court.

Lucy Koh, Judge, U.S. District, San Jose, California had directed both Cook and Gee Sung to participate in a two-day mediation session to settle their disputes, thereby avoiding a trial. The general counsels of both the companies were also directed to participate in the mediation session. The effort was aimed at settling Apple?s claims that Samsung?s smartphones and tablets infringe patents covering the design of iPhones and iPads, as well as Samsung?s infringement counterclaims related to its Galaxy smartphones.
