Schmid & Partner Engineering AG (SPEAG) has selected Anritsu Corporation’s 5G base station simulator MT8000A for advanced integration in the company’s specific absorption rate (SAR) measurement solution. The MT8000A is a flexible platform that supports 4G and 5G cellular technology for radio frequency measurements, protocol and application testing in FR1 (sub-7.125 GHz), FR2 (mmWave) and LTE bands. According to SPEAG, the integration of the MT8000A into the DASY8-3D V1.4 5G solution will significantly simplify the measurement workflow by enabling automatic 5G call establishment and handovers, contributing to an enhanced user experience and ease of use.
The MT8000A plays an important role as a “call box”, simulating an appropriate cellular network for a mobile device connection. Once connected, the cellular network then forces the mobile device to transmit at the maximum power for subsequent SAR measurement. Creating ideal conditions for such measurements requires a wide dynamic range to maintain a stable connection in the radiated environment, along with easy parametrisation for a quick and easy establishment of the connection.
