Amitesh Kumar Sinha has been appointed as the new chief executive officer of the India Semiconductor Mission (ISM), succeeding Sushil Pal. Earlier this month, Sinha was also named an additional secretary at the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Sinha’s appointment comes at a critical time as the government prepares to launch the second phase of the India Semiconductor Mission. Notably, Sinha has served as the CEO of ISM before as well. An officer of the 1996 batch of the Indian Railway Accounts Service, Sinha holds a degree in civil engineering from Visvesvaraya Regional College of Engineering, Nagpur.

Earlier, he has held the position of joint secretary at MeitY, where he was responsible for policy formulation and promotion of the electronics industry through various initiatives, including production-linked incentive schemes for mobile devices, IT hardware, electronic components, and the semiconductor sector under the Semicon India Programme.
