
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has stated that it will set up data centres in India in 2016 for its cloud computing platform. This comes after several of its customers requested AWS to locate infrastructure in India to faciliate lower latency and satisfy any data sovereignty requirements.
Cloud computing services offer software and other facilities on pay per use basis, while customers are not required to buy the entire product. AWS offers facilities like website hosting, data storage and other softwares required to run or manage businesses.
AWS customers in India include Hike, PayTM, Inmobi, Hungama, Tata Motors Limited, Jubilant Food Works Private Limited, Star India, Future Group, NDTV among others, and they are already using its cloud computing platform to bring about cost savings, accelerate innovation and expand their geographic reach. AWS?s global infrastructure regions are Northern Virginia, Oregon, Northern California, S?o Paulo, GovCloud, Ireland, Frankfurt, Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Beijing.
