The parliament was informed that as per the performance monitoring reports (PMRs) by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI), all telecom operators (except BSNL in one LSA of West Bengal) have been complying with call drop norms.

Ashwini Vaishnaw, the telecom minister, has informed that the TRAI has been monitoring the performance of telecom operators at the circle level as a whole through quarterly PMRs submitted by them against the benchmarks for various quality of service parameters laid down by the regulator.

In addition, Vaishnaw also mentioned that the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) had launched an interactive voice response system (IVRS) wherein around 56.7 million subscribers have been individually contacted since December 2016 for feedback on call drop.
