The Energy Efficiency Movement (EEM) forum organised in Pune stressed on the role of innovative technologies for sustainable manufacturing as global industry leaders, policy makers, technologists and academia converged to exchange views on India’s path to Net Zero. The event on pioneering energy efficiency, was organised by Alfa Laval in collaboration with The Swedish Chamber of Commerce and Industry in India.
Director CSIR, National Chemical Laboratory (NCL), delivering the keynote address said, “Breakthroughs in process technologies and materials are vital for India’s energy efficiency. Public research institutions like CSIR-NCL drive this progress by partnering with industry. I applaud Alfa Laval for creating a platform that fosters collaboration for a Net Zero future.”
Meanwhile, in his opening remarks, managing director, Energy Efficiency Movement, outlined India’s unique opportunity to lead globally in green molecules and industrial decarbonisation. He drew attention to the role of collaboration among key stakeholders to scale solutions while urging CXOs, policymakers, and industry leaders to make measurable commitments and accelerate implementation by joining the EEM. He said, “Let us not wait for the perfect moment. Let us make this the moment. Let us implement energy efficiency at scale to accelerate India’s energy transition while maintaining competitiveness and keeping the path to India’s Net Zero”
The deputy secretary, Climate Change, MoEFCC, Government of India shared insights on India’s approach to its Net Zero journey while director, State Climate Action Cell, Government of Maharashtra elaborated on “State-Level Climate Action: Strategies for Energy Efficiency and Net Zero Goals.”
Further, in his inaugural address, executive vice president, Energy Division, Alfa Laval stressed on the critical role of thermal energy efficiency in accelerating industrial decarbonisation. He focused on unlocking significant energy savings and reducing emissions across industries globally and in India. Thomas, sharing Alfa Laval’s global perspective on innovative technologies and practical solutions that enable industries to transition toward sustainable operations said, ““Alfa Laval is taking an active lead in driving the energy transition forward, providing heat transfer solutions that unlocks the full potential of energy efficiency. There were two panel discussions as part of the summit. The first panel discussion on Energy Efficiency: The Future of Industries set the tone for actionable strategies toward India’s Net Zero ambitions while focussing on the future from the industry perspective.
Exploring actionable strategies to accelerate India’s Net Zero ambitions through energy efficiency, the panel brought together leaders from research, technology, and industry to share insights on breakthrough innovations, electrification, thermal optimization, and collaborative models that can transform industrial sustainability. The panel deliberated on practical solutions, barriers to adoption, and the role of partnerships in scaling impact.
The second discussion on Energy Efficiency Today; Sustainability Tomorrow saw panelists discussing energy efficiency from present perspective, how making changes now and taking small steps can impact the future. The panel included leaders from academia, industry, and technology discussing innovations in green hydrogen, heat transfer, and integrated energy solutions. Industry-academia collaboration, overcoming barriers to large-scale decarbonisation, and building ecosystems for hydrogen adoption were covered in this conversation. The session concluded by highlighting practical strategies, partnerships, and policy enablers that can accelerate India’s clean energy transition.
The summit witnessed the launch of Alfa Laval’s highly advanced patented technology based heat exchanger, the Alfa Nova GL50.Alfa Nova GL50 is a fusion bonded gas to liquid heat exchanger in 100 per cent stainless steel material with patented fusion bonding technology. Key sectors including green hydrogen electrolyser and fuel cell industry, combined heat and power, cogeneration and condensate recovery will benefit significantly through lower energy consumption and waste heat recovery enhancing energy efficiency.
