
Alcatel Lucent has posted its financial results for the first quarter of 2013.
As against a net profit of Euro 398 million in the first quarter of 2012, the company has registered a net loss of Euro 353 million for the corresponding period in 2013. It has registered losses on account of sale of its call center business, Genesys. The vendor has lowered its operating loss by 32 per cent on a year- on-year basis. For the period under consideration, the company?s operating losses stood at Euro 202 million.
For the first quarter of 2013, Alcatel reported revenues of Euro 3.23 billion. This was driven by a 15 per cent increase in revenues from the company?s US operations. The vendor had signed deals with operators like AT&T, Verizon and Sprint. At present, North America is the largest market for Alcatel Lucent accounting for 48 per cent of the company?s total sales. In Europe, the vendor?s sales declined by 10 per cent. For the period under review, Alcatel Lucent?s sales in Europe stood at Euro 771 million.
