Alcatel-Lucent intends to foray into the managed services business in India. Also, according to company officials, Alcatel-Lucent has been amongst the frontrunners to bag the BSNL-MTNL undersea cable project. According to industry estimates, the value of this contract, which will enable the two companies to have their own submarine cable lines to Singapore and West Asia, is about $1 billion.
