Alcatel-Lucent has won two contracts in Uganda ?? a $20 million contract from Uganda Telecom and a $100 million contract from Hits Telecom Uganda. According to the agreement with Uganda Telecom, Alcatel-Lucent will supply its radio networking solution including base stations, radio network and base station controllers, wireless network management system solutions and engineering tools. Alcatel-Lucent will also be responsible for network design and complete network deployment, including network integration and maintenance services. Under the agreement with Hits Telecom Uganda, Alcatel-Lucent will supply an end-to-end GSM network and transmission solution, and provide a range of managed services which are to be launched by the end of 2007.
