Alcatel has been awarded a 9.8 million euro contract by the Shanghai government to provide an integrated communications solution for a new underground metro line.

Alcatel has been awarded a 9.8 million euro contract by the A Shanghai government to provide an integrated communications solution for a new underground metro line. This metro line is 31 km long and is expected to be fully operational by 2009. Alcatel will deploy an optical transport network based on its optical multiservice node (OMSN) equipment and an access network based on the time division multiplexing (TDM) 151x portfolio. The French company will be responsible for the conception, realisation and maintenance of the entire system.
