Akash Ambani appointed as managing director of Jio Platforms ahead of IPO

Reliance Industries’ digital arm, Jio Platforms Limited (JPL), has appointed Akash Ambani as its managing director (MD) for a five-year term, effective April 9, 2026, ahead of the company’s planned initial public offering (IPO).

The appointment was approved at JPL’s board meeting on April 9, citing filings with the Ministry of Corporate Affairs. Akash had joined Reliance Jio Infocomm as a non-executive director in 2014 and subsequently became chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm in 2022.
