Bharti Airtel and Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Tata Teleservices have failed to pay the first instalment towards adjusted gross revenue (AGR) to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
The first installment had to be paid before March 31, 2021.
To this end, the DoT is planning to file a status report in the Supreme Court (SC), informing that three telcos have not paid any amount towards their AGR dues beyond the Rs 300.55 billion initially paid.
In September 2020, the SC had allowed the telcos to clear their AGR dues within 10 years. The SC had ruled that the telecom operators must pay 10 per cent of the total AGR dues as demanded by DoT by March 31, 2021 and the remainder in equal installments every financial year up to March 31, 2031.
According to Vi, Airtel and Tata Teleservices they have already paid more than 10 per cent of their total AGR dues and do not need to pay anything by March 31, 2021.
