5G network was officially rolled out in Mizoram at an event attended by officials of the state’s Department of Information and Communication Technology and internet service providers in Aizawl. Hari Babu Kambhampati, Governor of Mizoram, interacted with zonal officer and engineers from Bharti Airtel. In the meeting, they discussed the rollout plan for the 5G network in the state and also about how to improve digital connectivity in rural areas and how the network service providers can play their roles.

According to Airtel, it is in the process of installing 5G towers at 53 and 10 locations in Aizawl and at Lunglei, respectively. As per the schedule, the 5G network will be available to be used in the month of February 2023. By April 2023, Airtel 5G network will cover all the headquarters of the districts in Mizoram. The telco also apprised the governor about the plan to increase fibre networks in the rural areas.
