Bharti Airtel has flagged the issue of fibre cuts in Hyderabad to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), seeking intervention to address the problem. The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) also alleged that the indiscriminate cutting of fibre cables by the Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) continues unabated.
Acting on complaints from Airtel and other operators, local telecom officials wrote to the director-general telecom, highlighting the severe disruptions caused to telecom and internet services in the city. The department has urged the state government to provide sufficient time for service providers to remove cables from electricity poles.
Meanwhile, the COAI strongly condemned the unlawful fibre cuts by TGSPDCL personnel across Hyderabad.
