According to a recent report by OpenSignal, Bharti Airtel has surpassed all other operators in four out of seven key quality metrics. This includes, video/voice experience, download speed and gaming experience.

On the other hand, Vodafone Idea (Vi) recorded the best upload speeds while Reliance Jio offered the best 4G coverage and experience during the quarter ended July 2020.

The analytics firm highlighted that Airtel has secured the top spot in download speed for the sixth time in a row with a speed of 10.4 Mbps. Meanwhile, Vodafone Idea held the second spot with a speed of 10.1 Mbps while Jio lagged behind sharply with average download speed of 6.9 Mbps.

As far as upload speed is concerned Vodafone Idea led the charts with a mean speed of 3.5 Mbps. Meanwhile, Airtel and Jio had upload speed of 2.8 and 2.3 Mbps, respectively.

As per the report, Vodafone Idea’s score in upload speeds was 56.1 per cent higher than that of Jio’s and 4.3 times higher than that of BSNL’s.

Further, all operators observed modest deterioration in their video experience (1.5 per cent to 2.3 per cent). This can be attributed to the COVID-19 crisis which has altered users’ behaviour drastically. That said, Airtel recorded the best 4G and 3G video experience.

Moreover, Airtel also offered the best voice app experience with a score of 75.5 out of 100, closely followed by Vodafone Idea at 74.4. This measures the quality of experience for over-the-top (OTT) voice services such as WhatsApp, Skype, Facebook Messenger, etc.
