Bharti Airtel has raised its minimum recharge validity tariff for prepaid users from Rs 23 to Rs 45, a near 95 per cent increase.
As per the telco, the new base price will be effective from December 29, 2019.
According to a public notice issued by Airtel, in case of non-recharge with a voucher of Rs 45 or above, all services will be suspended post the grace period of upto 15 days.
The move comes at a time when the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has started a consultation process on setting floor tariffs for voice and data services.
As per industry sources, Vodafone Idea, continues the base recharge pack of around Rs 23, but is expected to revise it as well.
