Bharti Airtel has filed a petition in the Supreme Court highlighting arithmetical errors made by the government in calculating the operator’s AGR dues. In its petition, Airtel has sought modification, clarification or recall of three mistaken orders that adjudged the claimed Rs 439.8 billion to be the final amount.

Further, Airtel has also sought permission for the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to arrive at the final AGR due amounts of telcos after taking into account the calculations done by the companies.

As per Airtel, the errors in DoT’s calculations of the dues arise from duplication in revenue addition, incorrect interest rate for calculating spectrum usage charges (SuC), and non-factoring in of payments made by the telco, amongst other such factors.
