In order to boost its average revenue per user (ARPU) beyond the Rs 200 level, Bharti Airtel has extended the 57 per cent increase in base prepaid rates nationally across all 22 circles. After implementing the tariff hike in November 2022 in Odisha and Haryana, it subsequently extended it to 19 markets. Kolkata, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh were the only circles where it was yet to roll out, which has now been concluded.

With this,  the minimum monthly recharge plan has changed to Rs 155 with unlimited voice calling , 1 GB data and 300 text messages, compared to the earlier Rs 99 which provided only 200 MB    of mobile data and had a 28-day validity. Airtel reported an ARPU of Rs 193 in the quarter ended December 2022          .
