Airtel Business, the enterprise services arm of Bharti Airtel, is targeting a higher share in the video collaboration market in India. In this regard, it is planning to offer tele-presence rooms or space for high-end video conferencing services in the near future. The company has partnered with Cisco for the launch of these services.
Airtel Business believes that the launch of such services will provide them the first-mover advantage and allow the company to get a dominant position in this segment.
The service is planned to be introduced with a monthly subscription of Rs 799 per day per room. According to Airtel Business, a monthly plan would enable unlimited video-calling facility for their employees without any need for infrastructure set-up or any other expenditure. The company added that tele-presence infrastructure requires about Rs 10 million to set up and it becomes obsolete every two-three years.
Further, the company is planning to bundle all components of tele-presence video calling into the plan and its service will interoperate with other existing room-based as well as device-based video-conferencing facilities within the enterprise. The customers subscribing to this plan will get complimentary subscription to Biz-Net Video, the Business-to-Business cloud-based video offering from Airtel’s video-enabled network.
