Airtel Africa has partnered with Mukuru, a remittance organisation, to enable Mukuru customers to send cross-border transfers to Airtel Money customer wallets across 12 African countries.
Airtel Africa has said that this partnership will benefit customers making intra-Africa payments from Southern Africa, where the remittance organisation has a leading presence.
This alliance between the two companies will enable the users to receive transfers conveniently and would also enable them to instantly pay for their utility bills, goods and services, among others. The transfers can also be cashed out of any Airtel Africa’s exclusive branches, kiosks, and agents.
Initially, the service will be launch in Malawi, Zambia, Uganda, Tanzania, Kenya and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Going forward, the services might be rolled out to subsequent Airtel Money markets.
