The GSM Association (GSMA), representing the interests of GSM mobile operators worldwide, has elected Ahmad Abdulkarim Julfar, chief executive officer, Etisalat Group to its board.

Julfar will be the twenty-fifth member on the board of GSMA Association. He will serve on the GSMA Board for a two-year term from January 2013 through December 2014.

GSMA Association has 220 countries under its fold. It represents interests of about 800 global mobile operators. The association also works closely with handset makers, software companies, equipment providers and internet companies, as well as organisations in industry sectors such as financial services, healthcare, media, transport and utilities. The GSMA Association also organises events such as the Mobile World Congress and Mobile Asia Expo.
