After awarding the International Gateway, Interconnection Exchange and International Internet Gateway licences through successful auctions, the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BTRC) is planning to hold auctions for awarding WiMax licences in end-September 2008. The base price for the bid has been fixed at Tk 250 million. The application fee for WiMax licences has also been fixed at Tk 50,000, while the annual licence fee has been fixed at Tk 30 million. BTRC will also fix prices for Wi-Max services. While three licences will be given to private operators, one has been reserved for state-run Bangladesh Telecommunications Limited.
